| Bluewater department store John Lewis was evacuated (file picture) |
Around 15 firefighters were sent to the department store at the Greenhithe shopping centre to investigate a suspected leak from a fridge.
The store was evacuated for around an hour-and-a-half while crews dealt with the scene.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said three fire engines were called at about 11.45am.
At 1.10pm, the brigade said the leak had been dealt with and crews were leaving the scene.
Officers from Kent Police helped fire crews evacuate the store.
Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service were also sent on standby.

Exciting Opportunities to become a Town Councillor!
Exciting Opportunities to become a Town Councillor!
Date: Friday 21 December, 2012
Two opportunities are now available to become a Town Councillor.|
EXCITING OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE TO BECOME A TOWN COUNCILLOR!
|
Two
notices of vacancies were recently advertised, providing electors from
the Knockhall Ward and the Swanscombe Ward with 14 days to write to
request a by-election be held to fill the vacancies. No such requests
were forthcoming, entitling the Town Council to now fill the vacancies
by co-option.
Written
expressions of interest are now invited from local residents who wish
to be considered as a prospective Town Councillor to fill the vacancies
at either Knockhall Ward or Swanscombe Ward. The role of a Town
Councillor is very varied and interesting and hugely rewarding given the
size, strategic position and importance of the Town.
To be eligible as a Town Councillor you have to be:
A
British, Commonwealth, or European Union citizen; over 18 and on the
Electoral Register. In addition you must have lived, worked or occupied
as owner or tenant any land or other premises in, or within three miles
of, the parish for at least 12 months.
Statements should outline the skills, experience, commitment and knowledge that individuals would bring to the council to benefit the community of Swanscombe and Greenhithe Town. Statements should also clearly state which vacancy they are referring to, either Knockhall Ward or Swanscombe Ward.
Deadline for receipt of submissions is 8 February 2013. Interested parties will be invited to attend the Town Council meeting on 21 February 2013 at which a majority vote will take place to determine the co-opted member.
For
more information about becoming a Town Councillor please call the
Council Offices on 01322 385513 or visit the following website:-

Consultation on Dartford’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Draft Charging
Welcome to our first
post of 2013. Best wishes and Happy New Year to all of our GMRA Members and regular
readers.
We
have received the following notice from Teresa Ryszkowska, Planning Services
Manager at Dartford Borough Council:
Dear Consultees,
Consultation on
Dartford’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Draft Charging Schedule - 3rd
January to 14th February 2014
Community
Infrastructure Regulations 2010, Regulation16 and 17
The
Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a new charge that will allow Dartford
Council to raise and pool contributions from developers to fund a wide range of
infrastructure. It will help to help
pay for things such as schools,
health facilities and transport improvements - all things that are necessary to support new
development.
Local authorities who wish to charge the
levy must produce a Draft Charging Schedule setting out CIL rates for their
area, set out as pounds (£) per square metre. Dartford’s CIL proposes different
rates according to location and type of development.
The Council is required to consult on the
Draft CIL Charging Schedule in advance of an examination by an independent
assessor. The Council would also like your views on a draft Instalment
Policy. This will not be subject to examination but comments will be taken into
account when finalising the policy document. The Draft Charging
Schedule, Draft Instalment Policy, a Statement of Representations Procedure
(explaining the consultation process) and response form are attached to this
email.
All
documents are available on the Council’s website at http://www.dartford.gov.uk/cil
or for inspection throughout the consultation period at the following
locations:
- Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford, 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM Monday to Thursday and 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM on Friday;
- Dartford Library, Central Park, Dartford, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Wednesday and Friday, Thursday 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday
Details
of how you can tell us what you think are in the Statement of Representations
procedure and on the response form.
For
further information or to request hard copies of the Draft Charging Schedule or
response form please email LDF@dartford.gov.uk or phone 01322 343213.
All
responses to the documents must be received by 5pm Thursday 14th
February 2013.
