Consultation on Dartford’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Draft Charging

We have received the following notice from Teresa Ryszkowska, Planning Services Manager at Dartford Borough Council:

Consultation on Dartford’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Draft Charging Schedule - 3^rd January to 14^th February 2014

Community Infrastructure Regulations 2010, Regulation16 and 17

The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a new charge that will allow Dartford Council to raise and pool contributions from developers to fund a wide range of infrastructure.  It will help to help pay for things such as schools, health facilities and transport improvements - all things that are necessary to support new development.

Local authorities who wish to charge the levy must produce a Draft Charging Schedule setting out CIL rates for their area, set out as pounds (£) per square metre. Dartford’s CIL proposes different rates according to location and type of development.

The Council is required to consult on the Draft CIL Charging Schedule in advance of an examination by an independent assessor.  The Council would also like your views on a draft Instalment Policy. This will not be subject to examination but comments will be taken into account when finalising the policy document.  The Draft Charging Schedule, Draft Instalment Policy, a Statement of Representations Procedure (explaining the consultation process) and response form are attached to this email. 

All documents are available on the Council’s website at http://www.dartford.gov.uk/cil or for inspection throughout the consultation period at the following locations:

• Civic Centre, Home Gardens, Dartford, 8:45 AM to 5:15 PM Monday to Thursday and 8:45 AM to 4:45 PM on Friday;
• Dartford Library, Central Park, Dartford, 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday to Wednesday and Friday, Thursday 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday
